An African will describe a good investment as one that gives a yearly return of 10%, gives little to no stress in investing and is available for compound investment.
Defining a good investment is also dependent on a number of factors.
The most important factor in determining a good investment is your financial need. Is it for long term or short term? For example, a young couple looking to invest for their unborn children’s education fees. A good investment will be one that has enough compound growth to help pay their children’s school fees in the coming years. This young couple’s investment will be different from a retiree looking to supplement their income in the present years. Also, people’s definition of good living differs, so this affects definitions of a good investment as well.
